Motivational Visions & Purpose Inc. (MVP) & BAG
By A. Marie Menelas | November 6, 2024
During this election season, BAG had the opportunity to support various organizations to educate and inform our communities about the issues that matter to us and share stories of the importance of civic engagement, exercising our freedoms, and working together for lasting change. We’re proud of our partnership with Motivational Visions & Purpose Inc. (MVP) and CEO, Co-Founder A.Marie Menelas shared the mission and vision of MVP Inc. and how BAG supported their efforts. The responses were edited for length and clarity.
What is the mission and goals of your organization?
At Motivational Visions & Purpose Incorporated (MVP Inc.), our mission is to empower
our community through initiatives that support mental health, personal development, and family cohesion. We strive to create a foundation of support and resilience for both
families and individuals, promoting holistic well-being. Our goals center on fostering a
sustainable community where every member can thrive and connect meaningfully with
others, especially through mental health resources and programs that address the
unique needs of our community.
How did you hear about BAG? What was the event(s) or nature of the partnership?
We heard about it from BAG Coordinator, Danielle Adams. The event was a “Mindfulness Yoga” Community Initiative. This fun and impactful program is all about promoting positive mental health through yoga and meditation. We’re offering free yoga mats for organizations to distribute to the community as a way to inspire wellness and mindfulness. The goal of the program is to empower others to find peace and balance in their lives, in a time where there is so much to be concerned about.
What did BAG contribute to help with your organization?
The financial contribution from BAG has been instrumental in enabling MVP Inc. to enhance several key programs. Specifically, it has helped fund our Mindfulness Yoga Community Initiative, allowing us to offer free weekly yoga sessions that promote mental health and resilience among community members of all ages. Additionally, BAG’s support has enabled us to expand the Baked Not Beat: Confident Not Content event, where we provide domestic violence survivors with resources, mental health workshops, and self-care activities. This contribution also helps us cover essential supplies, secure venue spaces, and provide materials that keep these programs accessible to all. Through BAG’s financial support, we’re able to make a broader, more meaningful impact on our community’s well-being. We also gave out over 1000+ new yoga mats to BAG for distribution.
How did the partnership help to meet your organization’s goals?
Our partnership with BAG greatly helped us to meet several of our community-oriented goals. By working with BAG, we’ve been able to extend the reach of our mental health initiatives and educational resources, ensuring that community members are not only aware of their civic rights but also have the support to make empowered, healthy decisions.
How did you create your organization? What is one thing you’d want our community to know about your organization?
MVP Inc. was born from a desire to make a lasting impact by offering resources and mentorship that helps young people and their families reach their full potential. Our founders, who are deeply rooted in community service, saw the need for a multifaceted
approach to youth and family support. MVP Inc. brings together a variety of programs—athletic, educational, and wellness-focused—to empower individuals and strengthen families. By providing mentorship, coaching, and mental health resources, we aim to help our community grow stronger together.
One thing we want the community to know about us is our commitment to mental health and community sustainability. Through initiatives like our Mindfulness Yoga Community Initiative, we offer accessible wellness practices for all ages, encouraging families and individuals to cultivate mindfulness and resilience. Additionally, our Domestic Violence Awareness Event: Baked Not Beat, Confident not Content aims to address the critical issue of domestic violence, providing survivors and the community with support, education, and healing resources.
Would you partner again with BAG in the future?
Yes we would most definitely partner with BAG in the future. Through this partnership, we can further sustain community growth and resilience by addressing both social and wellness needs. The focus on increasing Black voter turnout also empowers community members to engage more actively in local issues that impact mental health, family support, and community resources—causes that lie at the core of MVP Inc.’s mission.
